Co-founder of DAVINCI
Custom furniture is just the start at this L.A. store. Stop in to get an individually created piece and you’ll get personalized service and consulting as well.
What makes your business unique?
DAVINCI is a custom furniture store. Our business is unique in that our personal service is above and beyond our client’s expectations. We are committed to not only selling our products but also helping our customers by offering free design services. We’ll meet them at their home and help them determine their furniture needs as well as help them with spatial planning, color consulting, and general design tips.
We design pieces specifically for each client or we’ll help bring their drawings/vision to life. There are a lot of custom places out there that only do a certain style or will only customize a few different pieces—we can create any genre of furniture. Our specialty is probably modern/contemporary and lately, Hollywood Regency.
We also have the capability to do large roll out programs for our corporate clients, and we are a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). We manufacture in all mediums be it glass, metal, stone, acrylic, solid wood, veneers, and upholstered goods. We also re-upholster. Re-upholstering is a great way to have less of an impact on our environment.
What made you want to join the Visa Business Network? And what have you gained from it?
I joined the Visa Business Network because I wanted to be part of a community of like-minded business people. There are so many lessons to be learned and many businesses have already gone through some of the same things we do at DAVINCI. The Visa Business Network is a resource that I use to look for information about business practices that I’m not familiar with or need more help understanding.
What other social media techniques are you using to promote your business?
I haven’t really used any other social network at this time but I am looking to start.
Who is the market for your business? And what do you find to be the most effective ways to reach them?
Our market is the design savvy and price conscious group. Word of mouth is everything in this business and we have been getting by on that alone. However, we are currently developing strategies to reach out to new clients and tell our story. We will be doing this through a direct mail campaign as well as looking to advertise with social networks such as Yelp and Facebook. We’re also considering Google Ads.
What kind of support from the community do you need to reach your goals?
I need help in knowing what advertising strategies other businesses have used and what has worked the best or provided the best bang for the buck. I also need to know and stay on top of emerging communication trends.
Tell us something interesting going on in your industry right now that people might not know about (new faces, new technology, etc.)
Everyone is really focused on going green without losing the design aspect. More and more green resources are becoming readily available and the costs for them are also coming down.
Let us know why your business should be featured on the Network and yours could be the next Featured Business.
